Did you always want to be a fashion designer

My interest was deal with apparel and also I was interested in accounting and management. But God has His plan for us. I ended up inheriting one of my forefathers skill which am currently enjoying. I always wanted to deal with numbers as I was good with mathematics at High school but here I am dealing with fashion designing.

When did you start doing fashion and what was your family’s reaction

I started doing fashion designing in 2018, that’s when i discovered my skill. To me it was the best thing that happened to my life as I wanted to deal with apparel and also had interest in accounting and management .My family was surprised by what took place from nowhere. There were lots of questions about how come i didn’t study fashion and fabrics during my high school and even after. My mother was so happy and so supportive. There were no mixed feelings about what i have chosen to do. I got full support, words of encouragement from my family. They helped me since I didn’t have resources to work. I am a self taught fashion designer who seeks to grow my fashion business and employ other people.

What challenges did you face when u began your fashion business

Challenges that i faced, people bringing internet designs and its still one of the challenges that am facing. If people could stop bringing internet designs and let us as creatives to create trends for them.

Any big and popular clients you have worked with

I have worked and collaborated with local musicians from Bulawayo and other parts of the country the likes of Mandie Mae, Asaph, Fish f Ndaramu and Msizkay . I have also worked with local small companies designing their work wear .I recently worked with Mayibongwe Maseko the director of Youth Zunde IIima.

What do you think sets your brand apart?

The quality of my service. Every opportunity that I get I do my work whole hearted. I listen and attend to a client’s needs. I have designs for all kinds of people .

Tell us about any major milestones in your career, a fashion collection you’ve showcased on a fashion show perhaps or something you feel is very significant that you have done since u started designing

Am currently working on my first project (collection) soon be launched in 2024. So far have done single pieces and my last project I did while I was still doing street wear was my Blot collection. It was just one piece but consisting of different colors .

Who inspired you to get into fashion designing

I was inspired by Calvin Klein to have my own clothing brand. I inherited my God given skill from one of my forefathers who they say was a designer.

How do you balance family(kids and marriage) with your fashion business

Am not married yet but I would create time from my loved ones by taking a break from my work. Spending quality time with my spouse,i think it’s essential for a healthy marriage. I would create family and work calendar.

Which big fashion designers have u worked with or aspire to work with?

I aspire to collaborate with Francois Vedemme(South Africa), Zargue’sia (Zimbabwe), and David Tlale from South Africa.

What fashion advice can you give to our readers especially for the summer season that we’re currently in( both male and female

As I am in the making to be an established fashion designer. I will say it takes creativity to become a fashion designer. An eye to see and how to make a garment better and i would advise people to choose breathable fabrics which let air flow through. The other seasons this may not matter, but in the summer you will notice the difference between breathable and non breathable.

In conclusion, Langelihle Ndlovu is a rising star in the fashion industry, and his passion, creativity, and commitment to sustainable fashion make him a force to be reckoned with.
