Melz Children’s Home, founded by Meli Siwela and Mbali Siwela, is a beacon of hope for vulnerable children, and their journey is one that will inspire and motivate you.
A Simple Act of Kindness Sparks a Movement
It all began when the founders’ son relocated to Zimbabwe to reside with his grandparents, Esau Siwela and Ngqabutho Sebele. He became a student at Mvundlana Primary School, where he met a friend who couldn’t afford shoes and a uniform. Moved by his friend’s struggles, he decided to share his own uniform. That moment opened the founders’ eyes to the stark realities faced by many children in their community.
Mission: Providing Holistic Care and Support
The mission of Melz Children’s Home is clear. Which is to offer holistic care and support to orphaned, abandoned, or underprivileged children. At the same time focusing on their physical, emotional, educational, and spiritual well-being. The founders aim to create a stable, family-like atmosphere where every child feels loved, valued, and empowered.
A Strategic Approach
Melz Children’s Home doesn’t have a physical home yet. However, the organization is already making a positive impact in the lives of needy children in the community. With a presence in both Zimbabwe and South Africa, the founders are working tirelessly to establish a permanent home in the future. For now, they’re focused on providing support and resources to those who need it most.
Reaching Out to Those in Need
So far, Melz Children’s Home has identified nine children who are in dire need of support. The organization has applied for the allocation of a vacant land in Tsholotsho, Zimbabwe, where they plan to construct the Children’s Home. They’re currently waiting on feedback from the Tsholotsho Rural District Councillor.
Comprehensive Support
Once the physical home is established, Melz Children’s Home plans to provide a comprehensive range of support, including food, shelter, education, and healthcare. The founders will ensure that every child has access to nutritious meals, a safe and comfortable place to call home, quality education with school fees, uniforms, books, and stationery, and regular medical check-ups to safeguard their health.
Looking Ahead
The next steps for Melz Children’s Home involve securing the land allocation, constructing the physical home, and establishing partnerships with local and international organizations to amplify their impact. In the short term, the goals focus on providing immediate support to the identified children. Long-term, the vision is to establish a permanent home, provide ongoing education, and empower the children to become independent and self-sufficient.
